Why are lubricants used in the operation of industrial equipment? The properties of lubricants allow for the creation of a separating layer (boundary layer), thanks to which the friction force between moving elements of a mechanism is reduced. Due to the appropriate viscosity of the lubricant, the surfaces gain a smooth and slippery layer that reduces the amount of energy required to maintain motion, protects against wear, and guards the mechanism against harmful environmental effects, such as corrosion.

Depending on the intended use, the properties of lubricants may differ from one another. Some of our products are in liquid form, others in solid form. They have different levels of viscosity and resistance to external factors.

Before choosing the right product, one must consider whether to choose oils or greases. Industrial oils, in addition to lubricating components, also perform cooling and cleaning functions. Lubricating greases, on the other hand, remain at the application site. They find application when frequent replenishment of lubricants is difficult or economically unfeasible.

The ISO classification includes them in a single class of petroleum products and related products (designation L). Subsequent letters define the primary application according to ISO 6743. • air compressors for refrigeration machinery and vacuum pumps (group D in the PN-EN ISO 6743 standard),
• internal combustion engines (group E in the PN-EN ISO 6743 standard),
• slideways / guideways (group G in the PN-EN ISO 6743 standard),
• pneumatic tools (group P in the PN-EN ISO 6743 standard),
• heat treatment / quenching (group U in the PN-EN ISO 6743 standard).

An oil or lubricant should be selected primarily based on the parameters of the operating environment. Considerations include the temperatures at which the product is to operate, whether it will be subjected to high loads, as well as specific requirements for a given industry.

Specialty lubricants include, for example:

• LGMT universal grease, dedicated to operation under moderate temperature conditions and at standard rotational speeds, e.g., in automotive and machinery industries;
• LGHP advanced mineral oil-based grease with a thick polyurea (diurea) soap, for use under high-temperature and high-speed conditions, e.g., in electric motors, fans, and pumps;
• LUBVIBGREASE/C grease designed for operation in applications exposed to vibrations and shocks, e.g., in quarries, cement plants, shredders, crushers, screens, and fans;
• LGWA 2/50 lithium complex grease, developed for operation under severe conditions such as high temperatures, heavy loads, and wet environments, e.g., in agricultural and construction machinery.
